The Robertson family, beloved by millions of Duck Dynasty fans, is grieving the loss of their iconic patriarch, Phil Robertson, who passed away on May 25 at the age of 79. Known for his long beard, strong faith, and unapologetic honesty, Phil leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and fierce conviction.
In the wake of his passing, his children and grandchildren have shared personal and emotional tributes to the man they simply called “Dad” and “Pawpaw.”
Miss Kay, Phil’s wife of over 55 years, shared the first words of farewell:
“Phil was my first love, my partner, my best friend. We walked through darkness together and found light on the other side. He loved Jesus more than anything, and now he’s home with Him. I will miss him every moment of every day.”
Willie Robertson, Phil’s third son and CEO of Duck Commander, posted a photo of Phil sitting on the porch, Bible in hand, with the caption:
“He was more than a TV star. He was a warrior for the Gospel, a father who told you the truth even when it hurt, and the reason I am who I am. Dad taught us how to hunt, how to work, and most of all, how to stand firm in faith. Heaven just gained the strongest man I’ve ever known.”
Jase Robertson, known for his humor and deep-thinking nature, wrote:
“Dad didn’t care about attention. He cared about eternity. He told us the truth about life and about death—and now he’s living the truth he preached. He left us with stories, with wisdom, and with a love that didn’t need to be spoken to be felt.”
Jep Robertson, the youngest son, added:
“Some dads teach you how to ride a bike. Mine taught me how to skin a buck, read the Bible, and speak with conviction. He wasn’t perfect, but he was perfectly ours.”
Alan Robertson, the eldest son and former pastor, shared this at a private memorial:
“Dad always said, ‘If you’re gonna live, make it count for something bigger than yourself.’ He lived that every day. He found Jesus, and he helped so many others do the same. That was his mission—and he never wavered.”
The Robertson grandchildren also posted photos and short notes thanking Phil for “being real,” “always having a story,” and “teaching us how to pray without pretending.”
The family closed their official statement with:
